Beadhead Soft Hackle
BEAD HEAD SOFT HACKLE PHEASANT TAIL
One of the favorite tandem flies for the Gunnison usually where split shot weights are added some 12” above this upper fly.  This can be a late winter combination when the dropper fly is a Reed Gunnison Coachman.  The lightning midge on the point of the Bead Head Soft Hackle Pheasant Tail can also be effective
Lightning Midge LIGHTNING MIDGE
In the winter when sunny days bring out the midges, a smaller version of this fly on the point and in tandem with a larger size of the Bead Head Soft Hackle Pheasant Tail, Copper John, Flashback Pheasant Tail, or Reed Gunnison Coachman can be effective.
Brook's Sprout Midge BROOK’S SPROUT MIDGE
Designed to be fished with the hook suspended below the surface film when trout rises indicate sipping bulges.  The white parachute post provides positive angler viewing of the drift.
Extended Body Midge EXTENDED BODY MIDGE
This fly when used in tandem with a large attractor up can sometimes be effective when other choices seem not to be working.
Miracle Nymph MIRACLE NYMPH
Another point fly or dropper for tandem use with a larger bead head or soft hackle fly.  When this fly is submerged the floss becomes opaque with the color of the thread showing through and thus designated a “miracle.”
Copper John COPPER JOHN
A versatile bead head which is used extensively throughout the entire United States.  The Copper John is used in tandem with a larger or smaller fly or alone in nymphing.
Flashback Pheasant Tail FLASHBACK PHEASANT TAIL
This is another version of the versatile Pheasant Tail Nymph which has attained universal popularity as an effective fly.  The 3 strands of mylar stacked above the thorax and spread out over the abdomen gives it a possible flashing effect in the drift.  While often used in tandem on the Gunnison, it is also used alone when nymphing.
Reed Gunnison Coachman REED GUNNISON COACHMAN
Designed as a variety of the famous Royal Coachman line but designated specifically for the Gunnison, this fly is effective as the first fly tied in tandem with a smaller dropper such as the Miracle Nymph.  This is a particularly effective team for winter fishing.
